Bessie Ethel Wyant (Wellons) Family

My grandmother, Bess Wellons, was also from a large family. The Wyant family was headed by Charles B. Wyant and Mary E. Carson Wyant. The 1910 Census gives us a pretty good picture of the family, and a mystery to boot!

Charles B. Wyant was 36 and Mary E. Wyant was 32 in 1910.

Their children were:

Frank 12
Fred 10
Jessie 7
Paul (not Pearl) 7
Beltred 5
Mary 3
Bessie 1

And not listed is the baby of the family, Gordon, who was born in 1911.

So this Beltred Wyant seems to fill a gap. Ancestry does funny things though when I try to find out if this person existed in other documents. There is a “Charley” in one report. I don’t remember my mom or anyone else talking about an Uncle Charley. And finally...the answer is... He was Charles B. Wyant Jr. and he died in 1954, the year I was born. No wonder I never heard much about him.

I do remember all of the other kids and met them several times. We even took a vacation trip by train to California and back and we stayed at Aunt Jessie’s house in Walnut Grove. She looked just like my grandmother Bess.
