Aunt Carrie Wellons Musick Harmon

My grandfather’s sister Carrie Mae Wellons was born on May 19, 1907 in Anderson and died of coronary artery disease on September 9, 1992 in Anderson at age 85. However, she could have died much sooner!

In the 1940 census, she is living with her husband Ralph LeAlvy Musick and two daughters:

Ralph 33, a machinist earning $600 per year
Carrie 32, Working just 6 weeks that year as a corn trimmer in a food canning plant, earning $48 per year. She had an 8th grade education.
Jeanette 12
Charlotte 11

She is listed in a city directory (phone book) living with Mr. Musick in 1951.

She divorced Mr. Musick, or he divorced her... divorce records don’t seem to appear on Ancestry. Anyway, it’s a good thing.

When searching for basics about Mr. Musick, the first things I saw were newspaper articles about a murder suicide. And then there’s his death certificate. It says that he shot and killed his newer wife and then turned the gun on himself. This was July 1, 1959. He was born on March 18, 1907, so he had just turned 52 years old.

She married later in life...  she was 64 years old on June 3, 1971 when she married Richard L. Harmon.
